MAGICAL INFORMATION: His canon abilities in brief:
CULTIVATION MAGIC. When He Xuan was a human he had a golden core of spiritual energy, or qi. He never cultivated or ascended but during his many years pretending to be the Earth Master he was able to pass as an ascended cultivator. This magic allows such things as using spiritual/magical tools, flying on a sword (or shovel), communicating telepathically in a spiritual array, drawing the distance shortening array to teleport, casting spells to silence or harm, and using paper charms to banish or repel ghosts.
GHOST. As a ghost/demon, Xuan is very powerful - though he can hide and disguise his evil aura to seem weaker, or seem like a heavenly official. He is immortal unless his ashes are destroyed, and has no need for food, sleep, breath, etc. He is physically strong enough to tear a head off with his bare hands.
DEVOURER. Xuan is a ghost who eats other ghosts and steals their powers to improve his own. His ranking as a ghost was "devastation" or "supreme" meaning he possessed enough power to wipe out a nation and cause chaos. He had human worshippers and was feared by other powerful characters.
MAKING COPIES. Xuan can make empty clones and listen/see through them, using them as a spy tool or cannon fodder.
AROWANAS. These are giant skeletal fish he can summon and control.
DISGUISE. Xuan is able to change his appearance between his ghost form, his more human looking disguise of the Earth Master Ming Yi, and the female form of Ming Yi. He uses a combination of magic and acting, but his basic characteristics (like build and colouring) stay the same. He also can make disguised copies that he puppets, such as his "Hua Cheng" puppet and another heavenly official that surprises characters with how unlike He Xuan his personality is. The author calls him the best actor in the series, and he is able to deceive a lot of very smart and powerful people for many centuries.
MEDICAL INFORMATION: Depends on if he's disguising himself and what's being measured. He's a 900+ y/o undead former human, a Chinese "hungry ghost" which is a type of demonic entity. His hunger is largely psychological and mostly focused around consumption of food and other ghosts. He can only really be killed if his ashes are destroyed. Contact me if you want more info!
OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: He has an eating disorder and can be strange around food. Due to the fate of his wife as a human he is triggered by forced prostitution, slaves being taken and used as concubines, and so on. Offended by those who believe they can change destiny or talk of fate in general. Shi Wudu is an overall tension point too. Also won't be happy if you bring up his massive debt to Hua Cheng, especially if you are Hua Cheng.

BACKTAGGING: Yes, forever! In a game I might ask you to talk out the result of threads if they reach a couple months old so I can continue development, or I will reply with a comment that handwaves the end of the thread so we can start something new.

FOURTHWALLING: Sure. His canon is obscure even in our world, but in general I find this funny and won't mind. Prefer it to be used for jokes rather than infomodding.

I don't need warnings for transphobia or racism, but I would prefer to know that it's coming from the character and not the player. This especially goes for: misgendering Xuan when he is in a female body unless he has invited a change of pronouns; and weird insults or assumptions around Chinese culture such as food, honorific language, titles, religion, name order, etc. While I am a lot more forgiving if we are in touch ooc about this stuff and I trust you, I may still sometimes choose to opt out of threading about identity just because it's Too Real for me and I get tired. This isn't a judgement of you, thank you for understanding.

In his human form, or his disguise as Ming Yi, he has darker eyes and regular skin. Sometimes he also appears as a woman, but will still use he/him.

OLFACTORY: On a good day, just salty acridness. On a bad day, damp coffin-wood and rotten fish. He also likes jasmine scents.
DEMEANOUR: Rude, bitchy, cold, anhedonic, seemingly emotionless.

PATRON PTHUMERIAN: Mariana
LAMP AND/OR RESIDENCE: In a cave in the rocks by the beach; mostly only accessible by lamp unless the tide is low or you are willing to swim in choppy waters. His place is brutalist, rock furnishings and no affectations or decoration or electricity. He has a small shrine to Mariana where there is always a stick of incense burning.
INVENTORY: Arrived with nothing but his ashes and the standard newbie bag items. Since then:
- A handful of Chocolatier chocolates. (paid for in blood during the January TDM.)
- A fly-fishing rod suitable for ocean fishing, and a collection of hooks, weights, lures and bait. (purchased from the Docks.)
- A bucket-shaped portable cooler that is powered by his Lunar Orb. (purchased from Prufrock)
- A block of incense sticks. (purchased from Cassandra)
- A second Lamp Friend (won from the casino in March, placed alongside his original lamp location so there are more lamp friends.)
- Ten earthenware jars (Huangjiu in process, drinkable in August but best aged for years)
OMEN: Arowana skeleton, bone white. Unnamed, it/its or she/her. Swims through the air at knee level. Usually stays about five feet long when it's calm and there's space for it. Doesn't like to talk to anyone, but it will be physically affectionate if He Xuan likes you.
BLOOD TYPE: Paleblood
BLOOD POWERS: Canon powers mostly nerfed so that he isn't insanely powerful; the majority of his power is now blood based and can cause corruption. He can still do the transformation spells, communication array, etc.
STANDARD SLEEPER POWERS: These are fairly similar to his ghost state, and will basically work along with it.
PHYSICAL/BLOOD AWARENESS: Xuan will maintain an awareness of his body and the state of his blood, such as being aware when he is healing, being able to balance how much blood he can afford to lose, when he feels weaker or stronger, and so on.
EMOTIONAL VORTEX. Can dampen other emotions with his presence, to a state of meditative enlightenment and calm verging on carelessness. The longer he does and the more resistant the person is to this forced calm, the more he will experience those emotions as though they were his own. Too long and he tires or corrupts.
CORRUPTION/BEASTHOOD: Basically he becomes more fish-coded, more paranoid, and also displays his emotions much more, becomes angry or frenzied on a hair trigger, likely to shout or be violent. His empathy powers become an uncontrollable area affect that either fully dampens or wildly heightens all emotions. He gains gills, scales and webbing, and his body desiccates. His hunger is constant and only satiable with Sleeper blood.
